Theater In College Hoops (Ep. 62)- Corona concerns & Interview with former Wisconsin player JD Wise

You know how at the end of every show we give out hugs? Well, TICH might be in need of a hug. With the news of fans not being allowed to enter stadiums during March Madness, the boys are downtrodden, hurt, befuddled, confused but most of all sad. We try to make sense of it all and try to identify if there are any silver linings in this. How will this impact your bracket? How will this impact your viewing habits? How will this impact your overall satisfaction with life? Hopefully we gave you some guidance. Then, we cheer up a bit as we welcome first timer and former Wisconsin basketball player, JD Wise, to the program to share some stories about his playing days and his thoughts on this current Wisconsin team. We cap it off with TWIT and Hugs.

The BarnBurner’s ACC Tournament Preview

The ACC has been the most dominant conference in college basketball since they expanded to 15 teams in 2014. Over that time we’ve consistently seen 8 or 9 teams make the NCAA Tournament, a concept that would’ve been unheard of 15 years ago. However this year’s iteration may feature the weakest ACC field yet. The middle of the pack teams have been below average at best (pun intended NC State), and even the top teams aren’t showing their typical dominance. I hate to call any March hoops boring, but don’t expect to see your typical classic tournament in Greensboro.

We’re barreling into Selection Sunday but first, Taylor and Subbi revisit their preseason predictions. Some conferences were terrible, some weren’t so bad. Then, we make our Jerome Week 2 picks. This is when the big dogs come to play. Power conferences plus a lil LeVelle Moton. Also, have any of you heard the Christmas jingle, Dominick The Donkey? If not, take a listen and then once you have it in your head replace the name with Davide Moretti. Finally, we end the program with Where Am I? and Hugs

The BarnBurner’s Big East Conference Tournament Preview

It may not be what it once was, but this year’s Big East tournament should offer plenty of excitement. The conference truly embodies the parity that was the 2019-20 College Basketball season. Eight of the ten teams finished with an overall record above .500, while Georgetown and DePaul currently sit at 15-16. Add in the MSG atmosphere and we should be in for another classic tournament. So without further ado, let’s break down the upcoming week at the Mecca.

Theater In College Hoops (Ep. 60)- Vols comeback, “Vili” off, absurd shirt slogans & interview with Matt Alameda

Big show ahead as The Shark has his cloggin’ shoes on after the Vols came back in Rupp. Can the Barnes boys hear their name come Gumbel time? Then we discuss some news and notes including an apology to Providence, Andy Kennedy’s molasses mouth and a “Vili” off. We need an Illinois/Seton Hall tournament game so that we get the Bezhanishvili/Mamukelashvili matchup we’ve all been craving. With March Madness comes absurd slogans and one liners on warm up shirts. We discuss the best of the past then Subbi quizzes the Shark to see if he can differentiate those slogans between a Lil Jon/EDM song. We also bring on the BarnBurner’s latest addition, Matt Alameda, who breaks down his college basketball fandom, his writing history and the state of college basketball in New Jersey. Finally, we bury the show with Where Am I? and Hugs

Theater In College Hoops (Ep.57)- Interview with former Dayton player Logan Nourse, Baylor/Kansas, Creighton love & doppelgangers

Packed show this Thursday. We briefly preview the biggest game of the weekend, maybe of the regular season and DEFINITELY of the Big 12 season as Baylor hosts Kansas. From a scorching hot team in Baylor to another, we finally give Creighton its due. They haven’t lost in a month, you guys. Why is nobody talking about them? Time to give them the Kiss of TICH. We also welcome to the program former Dayton Flyer basketball player, Logan Nourse. He discusses his time there and what he’s expecting from his boys as we head towards March. We top it off with Where Am I? and Hugs.
