On Friday, one of the top overall players in the class of 2021, Terrence Clarke, released a list of his top 6 schools.
The list includes Memphis, Duke, Kentucky, UCLA, Boston College, and Texas Tech.
Currently, Clarke is the #3 prospect in the class of 2021 behind SF Jonathan Kuminga and SF Patrick Baldwin Jr. Rounding out the top 5 are PF Paulo Bancher and CG Jaden Hardy.
Out of those top 5, Memphis for sure is connected to Kuminga, Banchero, and Hardy.
Memphis has been after Clarke since at least the early EYBL session and Clarke has expressed an interest in Memphis during the entire courtship process.
Clarke is a 6’7″ athlete who wants to play with the ball in his hands — something that Memphis coach Penny Hardaway has shared that he would allow Clarke to do. It sounds like most coaches have him typecast as a wing because of his size, but we all know that having that much height in a primary ball-handler can be extremely effective in creating matchup issues.
According to Stockrisers, Clarke will announce his college decision on September 14th. There are rumblings that Clarke is interested in reclassifying to 2020, but we have yet to hear anything official on that yet.
As of now, it appears that John Calipari’s Wildcats are the favorite to land Clarke. The ‘Cats currently have a commit from 5-star shooting guard BJ Boston, who Clarke is rumored to want to play with in college.
