Last night, after much anticipation, HBO finally released a major update regarding Game of Thrones.
A quick teaser of upcoming productions was released by the network on Twitter, but it gave only one brief update. Fans were hoping for a release date on the final season, but we’ll have to continue waiting for now.
Jon Snow knows nothin’ and right now we aren’t much better off than him.
What we do know is that season eight is happening and filming has finished. It will be released in 2019, but specifics past that are being held tightly under wraps. It was rumored that April 2019 was the targeted release date, but according to the Huffington Post that seems unlikely as well.
There was one brief (three second) glimpse of new material in the trailer. If you blinked you probably missed it. I’ve posted the video below. At the 1:11 mark we can see Jon Snow hug Sansa Stark in what appears to be a snowy Winterfell. Every other clip in the trailer came from last year’s season seven.
Let the speculation begin. It looks like Jon Snow will be returning to the North, but who will be joining him? It’s looking like we’ll have to wait until the second half of 2019 to find out who is coming with him and who will ultimately sit on the Iron Throne. I will be sure to post an update when we finally learn more details.
