Why 99% of “social justice warriors” do more harm than good

Social justice is certainly an important ingredient for any decent society. Nobody deserves to be treated unfairly because of the way they were born, be it race, age, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Society has historically been pretty terrible at social justice, but has certainly come a long way. Although there is still plenty of room for improvement, things are in general going really well, but practice takes perfect and a utopia isn’t going to pop up over night. There are intelligent and educated people out there making a real difference in helping society improve by pointing out problematic policies in society. These people are absolutely crushing it, but an all too unfortunate truth takes hold “wherever people are doing good things, dumb-asses will come in waves seeking to screw it all up.”

A “social justice warrior” was considered a positive term not all that long ago, but now all you can think about when you hear the term is an angry and often violent person trying to govern what people say and how they think. Urban dictionary’s definition for an SJW proves my point on how they are currently perceived.
“Social Justice Warrior. A pejorative term for an individual who repeatedly and vehemently engages in arguments on social justice on the Internet, often in a shallow or not well-thought-out way, for the purpose of raising their own personal reputation. A social justice warrior, or SJW, does not necessarily strongly believe all that they say, or even care about the groups they are fighting on behalf of. They typically repeat points from whoever is the most popular blogger or commenter of the moment, hoping that they will “get SJ points” and become popular in return. They are very sure to adopt stances that are “correct” in their social circle.

The SJW’s favorite activity of all is to dogpile. Their favorite websites to frequent are Livejournal and Tumblr. They do not have relevant favorite real-world places, because SJWs are primarily civil rights activists only online.”

If someone really wanted to work for a better society, they would seek to educate not condemn. If you believe your outlook is better than an ignorant and hateful person, then it is up to you to prove it. A classic move by the modern sjw however is to respond to hate with hate. What do you expect to achieve by verbally assaulting someone who disagrees with you? Has your mind ever been changed by someone who is telling you how shitty they think you are? The SJW loves to gang up on someone who doesn’t agree and they fail to reach anyone 100% of the time. What is the point of turning the spotlight on a person who is being shitty? It simply draws attention to the hate, it isn’t convincing anyone that the person is terrible because everyone who thinks so is perfectly capable of identifying an asshole on their own. All that happens when the spotlight is turned on an asshole is the creation of a nice well lit place for other like minded assholes to gather. Then, the next thing you know they become even more cemented in their hate because they have been shown the way to others who think the same way.
